The first point of contact should be through our Brisbane Head Office. INFRASTRUCTURE Brisbane Head Office Our modern Brisbane based office is the first point of contact for your Reef Pilotage requirements. The office is equipped with the latest communications and EDP equipment and houses our General Manager, Alan Maffina, Safety & Compliance Manager, Dugald McKellar, Group Financial Controller, Kerry MacDonald along with various support staff. Mackay (Servicing Hydrographers Passage & Inner Route) Our station in Mackay has full communication facilities to service Mackay, Hay Point (Hydrographers Passage) and the GBR Inner Route. Thus short notice amendments, bookings are usually able to be serviced. Our owned twin engine helicopter, (operated by sister Company Reef Helicopters Pty Ltd), is based at Mackay Airport and provides a 24 hour service. Backup is provided through our subcontractor, Whitsunday Helicopters. Cairns Our Cairns pilot station is equipped with telephone, e-mail, facsimile, telex and a long range VHF radio network. Our staff operate our own purpose built pilot cutter for pilot transfers at Yorkeys Knob, Fitzroy Island and Euston Reef at Grafton Passage. Land down helicopter transfers at these boarding grounds are also available through sister Company Reef Helicopters Pty Ltd. Pilots are usually available to service late notice bookings. Thursday Island (Torres Strait) Our operational infrastructure at Thursday Island in Torres Strait has been in place since 1951 and comprises of a ten room pilot house, two offices, staff residences, three purpose-built pilot cutters, maintenance workshop and expertise, slipway and a staff of full time employees. The station is equipped with full communications capability with telephone, e-mail, facsimile, telex and long range VHF radio network. Pilots are usually available to service late notice bookings. Yorke Island (Servicing the Great North East Channel) Our manned pilot station of Yorke Island services the Great North East Channel. It is equipped with accommodation, a communications network and our new purpose-built pilot cutter. The base was established in 1992 after years of negotiation and consultation with the Yorke Island Council. Australian Reef Pilots uses the Dalrymple Island boarding ground, the only officially gazetted area for pilot boarding. |
